WordSearchSeries#20: Masochist|| How long can you hold a grudge for?

Happy Hump day Lovelies…..

For some reason it feels like a Friday but clearly it isn’t, so let’s learn a new word because it’s Wednesday.

Today on #WordSearchSeries, we found Masochist.

This word has been reoccurring in this spanish telenovela I’ve been watching (Can you tell I’m obsessed with Spanish telenovela’s? ). It is titled Los Miserables and a supposed love story where a couple keep hurting each other. In typical Phaytea Style, I looked for spoilers so I already know they finally got married. Isn’t love just beautiful?
Masochist was repeated in last night’s episode and I decided to finally check the meaning.

It means a person who is gratified by pain, degradation that is self-imposed or imposed by others.

A person who finds pleasure in self -denial or submissiveness.

A person with a condition in which sexual or other gratification depends on suffering physical pain or humiliation.

Someone who obtains pleasure from suffering mental or physical pain, punishment or humiliation.

For example: John is a masochist buy he likes to live in denia

I’ll be adding this word into my vocabulary bag and you should to.

For #WonderWednessday, I’m wondering ….how long you can hold a safe grudge for.

Some days ago, a colleague walked into my office and I suddenly remembered he got me upset the previous week.

Instantly, I just decided I was going to have only a formal conversation and not encourage any chit chat.

That’s exactly what i did and he noticed I wasn’t ‘flowing’ with his stories. I had this mischievous smile after he left and my plan worked.

He probabaly might not remember what he did but I got away with being naughty and i felt good about it.

I’m wondering if I’m the only one who gets this naughty *evil grin*.  Nothing too serious but I feel the silent treatment comes in handy once in a while.

Do you agree?

Share your stories

Let me know how you’ll use masochist in a semtence

How often do you intentionally hold a grugde?

Does the silent treatment work for you?

I’ll love to read from you

  1. Girl, I used to watch Spanish telenovelas a lot, especcialy when I was younger. I learned Spanish thanks to them 😀
This post was a great one.
Uhm silent treatment – well, it’s the best, and it works for me too, but it all depends on situation. 🙂

  2. I love that you share new words and their meanings. That’s an awesome idea. I legitimately miss vocabulary lessons in school. Although, I don’t miss the tests.

Also it might be a good idea on working on your poker face! You don’t want anyone misunderstanding your grin as something else. Who knows how someone will interpret facial expressions. The only reason I say that, is that I too have a had time controlling my expressions and it has gotten me into some trouble! haha!

    Great post. 🙂

    1. Hi hi…Thank you Shelby…I on the other hand have missed writing tests and exams….lol…
I didn’t think anyone will misinterpret my ‘evil grin’ in this context though..Maybe a ‘chuckle’ relates the message better but anyway it’s there already…
I feel like I could give ‘poker face’ tutorials though…I’m naughty like that ☺☺

  3. Silent treatment works with me if I want to make it work, although – I hardly never use it as I find it a bit pointless when it comes to arguing with someone. I’m usually the one who lays everything straight on the table, pull the tablecloth under them and leave the one I’m arguing with collecting the pieces. I might be a bit rough at a times, but I hardly ever argue with anyone. If I do, I’ve been holding stuff in for a really, really long time.

  5. Coincidentally, a friend of mine used the word Masochist in a sentence today and when I asked him what exactly does it mean, he wasn’t too clear. Now I know and luckily through you 🙂
